Taisetsu: The Deep Snow of Winter

Pine trees crusted with snow, silent under the sun of winter. It’s when the world has settled into a slumber only to awaken in the spring. This model’s dial celebrates the winter snow as it gathers and glitters against the sunlight. As nature slows down at the beginning of winter (Ritto), flurries of snow (Koyuki) begin before the heavy snow (Taisetsu). This season welcomes the shortest day of the year (Toji), as days become cold (Shokan), and life experiences the coldest day of the year (Daikan).

The Grand Seiko SBGA415 is one of the four new timepieces in a collection named the "Four Seasons of Japan", based on the iconic 62GS design launched in 1967 when Grand Seiko showed the world their first automatic movement. Now in 2021, Grand Seiko introduces these 4 pieces by reimagining the natural scenery of the 4 seasons most recognized in Japanese culture, namely Spring "Shunbun", Summer "Rikka", Fall "Shubun" and Winter "Taisetsu". 

Movement: 9R65 caliber that Grand Seiko assembles in its Shinshu Watch Studio, located in Nagano Prefecture. This sophisticated movement combines modern technology with the skilled hands of master craftspeople for its fine adjustments and high precision. The Spring Drive movement further reflects the smooth passage of time with every revolution.
